Welcome home baby Wesley!

We are happy the announce the arrival of the newest member of our family- Wesley Stephen Fisher. He was born January 3rd, 2010 at 4:47am weighing in at 7lbs 5oz and 20" long and just as perfect and healthy as can be. Ethan and I had a hard time nailing down a name and had a few choices ready for when he was born but he did remain nameless for a few hours. We decided on Wesley because we really liked the name and Stephen is after my wonderful dad whom we admire very much. We almost went with Timothy only because Caden decided long ago that his name was Baby Timmy and the kids would call him that in the womb. In fact we almost catch ourselves calling him that now! But in the end, Wesley won and it fits him.

For those wanting the labor details, they are as follows: I went to bed around 11:45 (should have been earlier) and just as I was about to fall asleep after midnight I felt a little gush come out and lo and behold, my water had started breaking. I called my mom and she came right over after just getting home from Utah 2 hours previous but she was ready! By the way, when I said goodnight to Audrey that night she said "Mom, I think your going to have your baby tonight." She must have had a little intuition. So we got to the hospital around 1:15 and I was having some good strong contractions along the way. As I got set up in the bed I was dilated to a 4 and told them I'd like the epidural right away. That was a little ordeal in itself. I had to get it in 3 different stages because the anesthesiologist had an emergency (umbilical cord prolapse) to run to just after he got the tube in my back and had to leave for about 45 min. He came back and injected something in the tube that would take the edge off and last an hour- helped a little but still not the complete numbness I was greatly hoping for. At last he came back and gave me the full thing and I finally got relief from all pain- whew! Although not much longer after that, I was fully dialated and ready to push. After 15 min of pushing, out came our baby boy! My labor ended up being about 4 1/2 hours total- not bad. My waist down was totally numb for quite a while since I got the epidural so late so that was a bit annoying. I'm so grateful that Wesley was born so healthy and that my labor went very smoothly and without complication. We were very blessed! Recovery is going well and other than not getting much sleep, I'm thankful Ethan is home this week to help out at home and with the kids allowing me to get a few naps in. He is a life saver! I've also had many wonderful meals brought in. I'm so grateful for the Relief Society and their efforts to help and serve us.
