Wesley turns Numero Uno

It's only been 6 months since our little Wesley turned one and yes I'm just now blogging it. I'm bad. I'm going to back date it anyway to keep this in the right month. Anyway, our sweet Wes is such a delight in our family and is always making us laugh. My older kids still adore him and love seeing his new accomplishments with talking and doing silly things. He's running and climbing all over the place- counters, tables, chairs, piano, etc. He still has not figured out escaping his crib and I PRAY that he doesn't try that for a another year! I was lucky with the older two but we'll see with this little mischievous one:)

For his 1st birthday (January 3rd) I was feeling pretty darn lousy recovering from a cold/flu after catching it from the kids who had it during Christmas. We just planned a little family party for him and had a few extended family members in the area over for cake and ice cream. I think I made the cake which consisted of a round cake and several cupcakes but didn't have the energy to decorate them so I let Ethan take over. I guess I wanted some cupcakes for the kids and a cute round cake to be "the cake". I'm not sure what Ethan was thinking when he started putting it together but the outcome was kind of funny and actually creative! Ethan's like that with cooking. Doesn't use a recipe or have a plan but ends up with something really tasty. Anyway, I told him to make blue frosting which turned out slightly runny and after putting it all together, he said it was a Dr. Seuss cake! And it really does look like one! Wes loved it of course and had lots of help opening his presents since he was a bit clueless with the whole evening as most one year olds are. It was a low key event but we all had a nice time celebrating with Wesley and we love him so much!
